I love QR codes. Heck, I even had one for my Facebook profile pic for a while. Unfortunately there's a problem with them. Normally when you click on a link, you can see where it will take you before you click. Not so with QR Codes. It's a blind jump, trusting whomever created the code. Maybe it takes you where it says it will. Maybe it takes you to a malicious website.

Once someone come up with a tool to validate QR codes, I think that they're going to be brilliant. Until then, be aware of the risks

Thank you for this! I keep seeing those things all over the place and could not imagine what purpose they would have. I can now understand how very valuable they could be.

This really a cool idea! And, no one said that it would be a replacement for tramping through a cemetery and looking at the markers. I think it is fabulous as an additional option. When I look for grave markers for "Find A Grave," I can't tell you how problematic it can be sometimes. I've had instances where the person that I was looking for was buried in a plot purchased by a non-related party and to this day, there hasn't been a marker. Some older markers are deteriorated beyond belief and burial records can be lost. I have a friend who can't locate his family member in a cemetery even though the funeral records say he is there and someone has a marker previously. The records are lost and no one living has specific information. What if some graves could be marked to lead other family members to their loved one?

Schwerdfeger, Swerdfeger, Barclay and other descendents of Rev Samuel Schwerdfeger (1731-1798). Schwerdfeger, founder of the Lutheran Church in Eastern Ontario, was born in Burgbernheim, Germany but emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1753, later settling near Albany, New York. After the 1790, the family moved near Williamsburg, Ontario. In the early 1800s, parts of the clan returned to the US and began the spread across Canada. Other variations include Swortfiguer, Swartfigure, Swardfager ... I have compiled a tree with over 4,000 directly connected folks. In the 1930s, one branch on the Canadian Prairies adopted the last name Barclay.

Olive was especially helpful with Scottish research. In June, I mentioned my one and only Scottish ancestor. Within a few days, she had done some research for me and gave me the number of a microfilm to order from the Family History Library. I didn't know her for long, but her kind, helpful nature will be remembered.

Thank you for the society's recognition of my sister's life, her contributions to your group and thank you for so many of you attending her funeral.
She loved working with you.
