AFHS’ Spring April 2011 edition of the Chinook publication has arrived! Featuring “Tweets and Tools” this issue has several excellent guest articles. These are:
- Google News Archive: A Genealogy Goldmine! Thomas MacEntee walks us through this wonderful archive using examples from Calgary news.
- Preserve Your Family History for Free at BackUpMyTree by Dick Eastman. Having computer backups is important and having stored securely on the web (and off site) is ideal. Learn how to use this backup service to protect your genealogy research.
- Using Mobile Apps to Take Your Genealogy Anywhere by Gena Philibert Ortega. A comprehensive article on mobile genealogy includes apps, photos, maps, family trees, libraries and more.
Xenia Stanford, our award winning editor announced she is stepping down after a five year run as editor of the Chinook. We will miss her greatly but know that the Chinook will carry on in the capable hands of Wayne Shepheard.
Xenia wrote several articles for this issue of the Chinook including “Genealogy and Anarconomy” What is anarconomy? You’ll have to read your latest issue to find out.
Xenia also wrote a fitting tribute to a long time AFHS member, Suddie Bill Mumford who passed away November 13, 2010.
