AFHS Award Winning Publication: Chinook

What is a Chinook?

In Calgary, where we are, a Chinook is a warm dry wind blowing down the eastern slopes of the Rockies.  But that’s not all a Chinook is!

A Chinook is also a quarterly publication of the Alberta Family Histories Society.

Distributed to all members of AFHS and sent to about 100 different institutions around the world (including Canada, the United States, the British Isles and Australia) the Chinook has a renowned reputation.

A recipient of the 2008 National Genealogical Society’s Award in the Local Family History Newsletter Category, this publication is edited by the very talented (and busy) Xenia Stanford.

Packed full of articles and features, the Chinook is a treasure trove of genealogical information.  Check out the table of contents from a recent issue.  Members and others are encouraged to submit articles.
