LaBOSSIERE - Joseph (Joe) Albert LaBossiere of Calgary, formerly of Kelowna,
British Columbia, passed away at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Extendicare Centre
on June 23, 1997, at the age of 77 years. Joe was born May 7, 1920 in
Saint Leon, Manitoba. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in
1943. Joe met Anne Sawatzky and married her in 1951 in Vancouver. He was
a pioneer in Kemano Power Operations from 1954 until his retirement in
1979. He moved to Kelowna and enjoyed an active retirement with the Elks
and the Legion, spending many "happy hours" tending bar. In
1996, Joe moved to Calgary to be with his children. Joe is survived by
Janice Lester, Don, James and Katherine, and Dawna and Gerry Richardson,
all of Calgary. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Renee and Jeremy
Lester, Ben and Jessie LaBossiere, Tammi and Nathan LaBossiere, Brian,
Luke and Andrew Richardson. He is also survived by two brothers and a
sister-in-law, Gene and Inge of Port Coquitlam, B.C., and Gilbert of Winnipeg.
Joseph will also be lovingly remembered by Paul Lester. He was predeceased
by his wife Anne in December 1974, a brother Lionel, and a stepsister
Emelda Hammond. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at McINNIS

Lougheed Hospital on Monday, December 8, 1997 at the age of 75 years.

LAHEY - Mr. Ronald John Lahey, beloved husband of Mrs. Joan Lahey (nee
Gordon) of Calgary, passed away peacefully in his home on November 12,
1997 at the age of 69 years. Ron was born October 7, 1928 in Ottawa, Ontario.
Ron moved west and worked for Air Canada retiring after thirty years.
Ron enjoyed golf and traveling. Besides his loving wife of forty-three
years, Ron will be sadly missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael
and Sharon; and two grandchildren, Jared and Kasey. He is also survived
by a brother and sister-in-law, Dalton and Tracey; two sisters and a brother-in-law,
Linda and Tom Clarke of Ottawa, and June Barnett of Pembrooke. Ron was
predeceased by his son Patrick in 1976. Those wishing to pay their respects

LAKATOS - Mari Lakatos passed away at the Bethany Care Centre, Cochrane,

LAMARRE - Dr. C. Jules Lamarre, m.d. FRCP (C), beloved husband of Mrs.
Claire Lamarre, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Sunday, June
15, 1997. Born in Quebec City on April 18, 1930, Dr. Lamarre studied Medicine
at Laval University and received his training in Psychiatry in Saskatoon,
London (England), and Montreal. He taught Medicine in Saskatoon and Sherbrooke
(Quebec), before coming to Calgary in 1975 as professor of medicine at
the University of Calgary, and Head of the Department of Psychiatry at
the Calgary General Hospital. He was a Fellow of the American Psychiatric
Association. Dr. Lamarre retired in 1995. Besides his wife, Dr. Lamarre
is survived by his children, Anne and John Pearce of Cochrane, Martine
and Francis Skulsky, Catherine and Brad Reinholz of Calgary, Charles and
Ellen Lamarre of Ottawa; and nine grandchildren, Christine, Robert and
Laura Pearce, Sam and Ben Skulsky, Carolyn and Jacqueline Reinholz, Christopher

LAMBE - Jean Lambe, beloved wife of Joe Lambe, passed away peacefully

LAMB - Margaret Alice Lamb passed away at the Bethany Care Centre on
November 30, 1997 at the age of 100 years. Margaret is survived by children,

Margaret Lamb; as well as thirteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren

LAMBERT - Gordon Robert passed away peacefully following a courageous
battle with cancer in Calgary on October 14, 1997 at the age of 68 years.
Gordon joined the RCAF in 1947 and served until 1976. He then joined the
civil service until his retirement at age sixty. Gordon was a very proud
and active member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 264. He will be
lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his son Gary and his wife Mary,
and their daughter Fionna; his daughter Annette Sephton and her husband
Bob, and their children, Cara, Drew, and Elliott. Gordon was predeceased

LAMONT - Kathleen N. Lamont passed away suddenly on October 20, 1997
at the Dufferin Lodge in Nanaimo, B.C. A long time resident of Calgary,
she is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Bob (Carol) of
Edmonton; daughter Anne (Rob) of Nanaimo, B.C. and daughter Kathy of Ponoka;
grandsons, Ken (Andi) of Vancouver and Pat (Barb) of Edmonton. She also

LANCASTER - Lilian Lancaster, beloved wife of Alec, passed away at the
Dr. Vernon Fanning Care Centre on Sunday, June 15, 1997 at the age of
80 years. She is also survived by a daughter Alice Johnston; three grandchildren,
Steven, Jason, and Amber Johnston; three great-grandchildren; a brother
Percy (Queenie) Simpson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lilian was predeceased

LANCASTER - Mildred A. died peacefully at home in Victoria, December
1, 1997. Predeceased by her husband George. Mildred was born in England,

LANDERYOU - James Bishop (Jim), born January 20, 1908 went to be with
his Lord and Savior December 10, 1997 at the age of 89 years. Beloved
husband of Marion for sixty-five years; dear father of Lovine Erhardt,
Garth (Myrna) Landeryou, Carol (Don) Armstrong, Judi (Jack) Gallagher
and Georgie (1935 to 1936); grandfather of twelve; great-grandfather of
eleven; brother of Hazel Marshall and Dorothy McPhail. Jim is also survived
by many other dear family members. The family wishes to thank Unit 32
nursing staff at the Foothills Hospital for their loving care during his

LANE - Mayme Evangeline Lane (nee Taevere) of Cochrane, Alberta, passed
away at home on November 25, 1997, following a long illness. Born in Carbon,
Alberta on April 20, 1928, and raised in Vulcan, Alberta, she enjoyed
a varied career and diverse interests. Her sage advice and loving presence
will be sorely missed by her children, David Pocock of Calgary, Alberta,
Linda Grant and her husband David of Golden, B.C., and Janet Hird and
her husband Bob of Calgary. Killasandra-Lee and Erin-Lynn Pocock of Red
Deer, Alberta, and Derrick and Douglas Grant of Golden, B.C., will also

LANG - William (Bill) John Lang, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away at
the Bow View Manor on November 3, 1997 at the age of 87 years. Bill was
born on May 9, 1910 in Quinton, Saskatchewan, and moved to Calgary in
1962, where he tuned pianos and played violin with the Calgary Philharmonic
Orchestra until his retirement. Bill had an enduring love for music and
God. Bill is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ernie and Kathy
Lang of Red Deer, and Glenn and Harriet Lang of Calgary, Alberta; and
two daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Ed Luca of Calgary, Alberta
and Julie Chernoff and Tim Pilkey of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He is also
survived by three sisters, Millie, Elsie and Martha; five grandchildren

LANGSTON - Stewart (Stew) of Kelowna, B.C. passed away December 11, 1997
after a lengthy, tough battle with cancer at age 78. Stew will be lovingly
missed by his adoring and caring family, his wife Anne of Kelowna; daughter
Valerie (Ted Jones) of Kelowna; sons, Blair (Dolores) and Craig of Calgary;
sister Flo Dymond; and brother Les (Margaret) of Calgary; five adored
grandchildren, Toby, Trevor, Tiffany, Stewie and Lisa; and many nieces
and nephews. Stew was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Florence,
sisters, Leilah, Hilda, and Pearl, two brothers, Frank (Tobe) and Cliff.

LANIGAN - Mr. Leslie V. Lanigan, 72, of Hinton, Albert and formerly of
Rexton, N.B., passed away at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton,
N.B, Thursday, September 4, 1997 after a brief illness. Born in Rexton,
N.B., he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Courtney) Lanigan. Retired,
he had been employed with C.N.R. for many years in Alberta and British
Columbia. He is survived by a daughter Lois Ford of Calgary; and a son
Gary, also of Calgary; two sisters, Kay of Oakville, Ontario, Vera of
Rhode Island, U.S.A.; three brothers, Gordan of Hamilton, Ontario, Raymond
of Rexton, N.B., Murray of Chester, N.S.; and five grandchildren. Funeral
Service was held at Thompson's Funeral Home Chapel, Richibucto, Monday,
September 8, 1997 with Reverend Reginald MacKinnon officiating. Interment

LARMOUR - Ida, passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Friday,
December 12, 1997. Ida was predeceased by her loving husband Allan in
1991, after sixty-one years of marriage, and her son-in-law John Stein
in March 1997. Ida was born in Jasmin, Saskatchewan and raised in East
End Saskatchewan. She attended Business College in Regina and was employed
by the Royal Bank of Canada and also worked for a lawyer in Nipawin, Saskatchewan,
where her daughter Betty was born. Ida and Allan moved to Calgary in 1971.
Ida spent a great deal of her life doing things for others. She received
a Certificate of Appreciation for Volunteer Work from the Foothills Hospital
for knitting bonnets for premature babies and finger puppets for children
receiving blood tests. Ida helped with teas and entertainment at Glamorgan
Nursing Home, bingo at Sarcee Nursing Home and also volunteered with the
Blood Donor Clinic. She was a Life Member of the Regina Chapter No. 7
Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a charter member of United Church
Women's Group in Regina and the Lakeview United Church in Calgary. Ida
worked for shut-ins, and provided hospital visiting, letter writing and
mailed out Christmas cards at Geriatric Hospitals. Ida is survived by
her loving daughter Betty; grandchildren, Barbara Stein and friend Byron
Sluggett, Bill Stein and wife Karen, Patti Restoule and husband Joseph,
Paul Stein and wife Myra, Mark Stein; and six great-grandchildren, Christopher,
Jody and Mark Stein, Sarah and Matthew Restoule, and Melissa Stein. She
is also survived by her sisters, Betty and Marjorie; and brothers, George
and Philip. It was Ida's wish that her body be donated to Medical Research
at the University of Calgary. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life
will be held at the Lakeview United Church, 3023 - 63 Avenue S.W. on Monday,
December 15, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Tom Melvin presiding.

of Calgary passed away in Toronto, Ont. on July 8, 1997. Besdies her mother,
Joy is survived by her husband, Don of Toronto, Ont.ahte her three sisiters,
Marlene of Calgary, Vivian fo Leduc adn Melody (Frank) fo Calgary. Jou
is also survived by five nephews and two great nieces. Derek (Linda) of

LAROCQUE - Mary Carol Larocque (nee McDonald), beloved wife of Brian
Larocque of Calgary, passed away at the University of Alberta Hospital
in Edmonton, AB on June 7, 1997 at the age of 44 years, after a very short
illness. Born in Alberton, Prince Edward Island on December 24, 1952 and
moved to Calgary in 1965, Mary graduated from Central Memorial High School.
She worked for many years at the Carewest Sarcee Auxiliary Hospital till
becoming a proud mother of twins, devoting her time to caring for her
family. Mary was very active in her community including church and school
activities. Besides her loving husband, Mary will be dearly missed by
her twins, Marc and Alanna. She will also be lovingly remembered by her
parents, Leona and Alton McDonald; her sister Cindy; her three brothers,
Roger, Russel and Joe; her sister-in-law Corrine; her nephew Jerimiah;
her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Janet Larocque and their

LARSEN - Mrs. Dorothy Marie, beloved wife of Mr. Clifford Larsen of Calgary,
passed away at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre on July 8, 1997 after a courageous
battle with a rare form of cancer. Besides her loving partner and friend
Cliff, she leaves behind four children, Brian Clifford (Laura) Larsen
of Calgary, Susan Marie (Allen) Sowinski of Calgary, Wayne Thorvald Larsen
of Edmonton, and Blair David (Donna) Larsen of Philadelphia. She was also
the proud grandmother of Shawn, Breanna, Nathan, Brett and Kendra, all
of Calgary, Shyan and Kayla of Edmonton. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered
by her mother-in-law, Suzanne Larsen of Calgary; her brother Richard (Marie)
Larsen of Hussar; her sisters, Fay Larsen, Kay (Ralph) Mackenzie, all
of Calgary, and Olive (Dick) Clark of Gig Harbor, WA. She also leaves
behind twelve nieces and nephews and eleven great-nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was born on August 27, 1931 in Bassano, Alberta. She grew up in
Hussar and attended Camrose Lutheran College prior to taking residence
in Calgary. She and Clifford were married in Calgary on November 11, 1953.
Dorothy loved the Lord and she was a long-standing and active member of
Faith Lutheran Church where over the years she served numerous volunteer
positions and encouraged the development of a tightly knit Christian community.
Dorothy also loved to travel, to play bridge, enjoyed the outdoors by
hiking, mountain picnics, camping and family outings throughout Calgary's
park and river areas. Her home was always open for friends and family
to gather - she loved to entertain. She was the rock and the foundation
for her own siblings as her parents had passed away at very young ages
and she was the driving force behind the success of her own children.
Many of her friends will remember Dorothy for her sense of humour and
her generous spirit, her determination to get a job done and to do it
well. Her zealous approach to life and her courage and dedication to family
will always be remembered. Dorothy considered herself lucky to have many
friends and to be surrounded by love and caring. Memorial Services will
be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 1903 - 19 Avenue N.W., on Friday, July
11, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Keith Loewen officiating. In lieu of

LATHWELL - Lillian Josephine Lathwell of Calgary, passed away at the
Extendicare Hillcrest Nursing Home on June 22, 1997, at the age of 92
years. Lillian is survived by two daughters, Agnes (Richard) Maze of Blaine,
Washington, Judy (Leonard) Euren of Benalto, Alberta; and by grandchildren,
Mary Jane (Henry), Bob, Leslie (Rob), Dana (Ken), Darcy, Doug (Donna);
and six great-grandchildren, Brent, Sarah, Travis, Randy, Chance and George.
She was predeceased by her loving husband George in June 1983 and by her
son Bill in February 1997. The family extends a special thanks to Hillcrest

LATIMER - Larry Latimer, aged 57, passed away at home on June 14, 1997.
He is survived by his wife Betty; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and

LATTER - Kathryn Winnifred, sadly on June 12, 1997, Kathy completed her
journey among us and went to be with her dad, gramma and nephew Colin.
Leaving to carry on her mission of life is her beloved son Brody; her
mom Grace; sisters, Peggy Elhorn of Nanaimo, Judi Shermerhorn (Vern),
and Colleen Allin (Doug); and brother Dean (Kathy), all of Calgary. Special
people to Aunty Taffy were, Corrie, Dallas, Brandi-Lynn, Wes, Vicki, Danny,
Shelley, Thomas and Trin. Born in Calgary, July 16, 1954, Kathy lived
in Edmonton, Yellowknife and finally returned to Calgary. Her lot in life
was volunteering. Kathy worked with Calgary Minor Hockey Association,
Seven Clubs Sports Council and Penbrooke Meadows Community. Countless

LAWS - Lucile Laws passed away, in the loving care of the staff at the
Brentwood Nursing Home, on June 12, 1997 at the age of 86 years. She is
the loving mother of Joanne (Doug Cameron), and grandmother to Scott (Lorna)
and Cherlyn (Warren). Lucile was predeceased by her husband Bill on June
4, 1995. Lucile touched the hearts of many people and will be sadly missed.

LAWSON - Miriam Orlee Lawson (nee Philips) passed away suddenly on November
19, 1997 as a result of a car accident. She was returning to Calgary from
Grande Prairie where she had just finished another one of her many speaking
engagements for Christian Woman's Club. Telling others about the love
of Jesus Christ had been one of her passions, particularly since the death
of her husband, Ross, ten years ago. Orlee was born on the fourth of July,
1927, in Jamestown, New York. She was raised by her adoptive parents,
and later moved to Erie, Pennsylvania. While attending a bible college
in Indianapolis, she met a young chiropractic student, Ross Lawson, whom
she married in May of 1950. With their first born son, they moved to Calgary
where they subsequently raised all five of their children. With the addition
of grandchildren into her life, Orlee took great delight in making traditions
and memories with them. As a founding member of Woodgreen Presbyterian
Church (PCA), Orlee was known as the "heart of her church family".
She also served Christ through Stonecroft Ministries, touching thousands
of women's lives throughout North America with her personal testimony
of God's grace. We thank God for giving her to us as a mother, a grandmother,
a sister and a friend. God's grace is sufficient. Well done good and faithful
servant. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Stephen and
Donna Lawson, John and Sandee Dean, David and Susan Lawson, Geoffrey and
Barbara Jemmott, Paul and Julie Lawson; sixteen grandchildren, Stephanie,
Jessica and Nathan Lawson, Nancee, James, Jayne, David and Haylee Dean,
Jeremy, Jonathan, Daniel and Megan Lawson, and Kandis, Ben, Kathryn and
Sam Lawson. Orlee is also survived by her sister Martha and her family
in the U.S.; and brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Clarke and Maynard
