WADDINGTON - Doris Evelyn (volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society,
Life Member ofthe Preston Br. 126 Royal Canadian Legion, volunteer for
the Red Cross, former member of theAfterglows and a longtime member of
the St. John's Anglican Church Choir), peacefully at St.Luke's Place,
Cambridge, ON, on Saturday, December 27, 1997 at the age of 79 years.
Belovedwife of the late Thomas Waddington; loving mother of Garry Waddington
and his wife Cheryl ofForest, ON, Randy and his wife Gabriele of Calgary,
AB, Cheri Naylor and Jim Kelly ofMississauga, ON, Barbara and her husband
Larry Johnston of Kitchener, ON; cherished grandmaof Stephanie, Victoria,

WADE - Ellen Margrethe Wade passed away at the Bethany Care Centre on
October 26, 1997 at the age of 88 years. Predeceased by her husband, Axel
Wade in 1996, and by a granddaughter Laura and a grandson Danny. Ellen
is survived by two daughters, Ellen Stone and Karen Ramsey (Gordon); one
son Tom; two grandchildren, Randy and Bill (Ruth); and four great-grandchildren,
Kirsten, Melissa, Tami and Nigel; as well as a sister Krista Hobbs. Funeral

WADE - Rodney Archer Wade passed away on October 10, 1997 at the young
age of 30 in Calgary, Alberta. He is survived by his parents, Barry and
Lise Wade and Marlene Summers; brother and his wife, Michael and Tracey
Wade; grandmother Kathleen Mattock of Penticton; and special friend Annabel;
many relatives and friends. Rodney was young and full of life and touched
the hearts of many. The family would like to express a special thank you
to the Intensive Care Unit and Unit 54 of the Peter Lougheed Hospital
and for the support that they received from Rodney's co-workers at Canadian

WADLEIGH - Dorothy Irene (Bourne) of Calgary, passed away peacefully,
with her familysurrounding her, at the Bethany Care Centre, on Friday,
December 5, 1997. She was born inNanton, Alberta, the only child of Earle
and Lela Bourne. She graduated High School there,going into service with
the Royal Canadian naval Volunteer Reserve, as a WREN, during WWII.She
returned to Calgary, and while working as a telephone operator for AGT
she met City PoliceConstable Wadleigh. She and Robert were married on
April 12, 1948. While caring for herfamily was always her first priority,
she found time to enjoy the beauties of nature. Her interestin animals
and flowers extended to a menagerie of pets and flourishing gardens, particularlyduring
the years living on a NE Calgary acreage. The consistently loving nature
and unreservedcompassion of our "Mumma" will be deeply missed
but never forgotten. She issurvived by herloving husband of 49 years,
Robert E.; her son David; daughter Diane (Garth) Illerbrun; andgranddaughters
Jennifer and Rebecca Wadleigh, all of Calgary. In accordance with Dorothy'swishes,
after a private interment in the Burnsland Cemetery Plot, family and friends
will gatherfor a memeorial service at the Bethany Care Centre, 916 - 18A

WAEYEN - Christiaan (Chris) Waeyen, beloved husband and best friend of
Zus of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on July
10, 1997 at the age of 70 years. He was born April 9, 1927, in Sittard,
Holland. Chris was a lover of flowers, plants and raised varieties of
exotic birds and will be missed by his favorite cockatiel "Sammy"
and parrot "Peso". He was a founding member of "The Dutch
Canadian Club", had a great sense of humor and will be remembered
and sadly missed by all his family and friends. Chris is survived by his
loving children, two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Collette Waeyen,
and Bruce Waeyen; four daughters and sons-in-law, Lucy and Don Parkin
of Calgary, Gerdy and Darwin Mahlum, Sharon and Dan Grondin, all of Nanaimo,
British Columbia, Yvonne and Richard Anderson of Calgary. Chris is also
survived by sisters and brothers in Holland and New Zealand; a brother
and sister-in-law, Herman and Marian of Regina; and a brother-in-law in
Slave Lake. Chris leaves behind seven special grandchildren, Sean, Erin,
Christopher, Scott, Michael, Steven and Kristi. He is predeceased by two
special grandchildren in Heaven, Kyle and Richard, and a sister Elizabeth.

WAHL - Herman passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on June 14,
1997, one week short of his 86th birthday. Herman will be sadly missed
by his wife Erna; his four daughters and sons-in-law, Edie and Jack Swanson
of Golden, B.C., Ada and David Morgan of Calgary, Trudy and Jim Vangilst
of DeWinton, and Reta and Rick L'Heureux of Calgary; his grandsons; one
sister Martha and her husband Emil Leis of Medicine Hat; as well as numerous
nieces, nephews and other relatives. Herman immigrated to Canada in 1949,
settling in Redcliff. In 1953 Herman and Erna moved to Rolling Hills where
they farmed until 1974, at which time they retired and moved to Calgary.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 1997 from 7:00 to 9:00

WAHLSTROM - Robert Axel Theodore Wahlstrom. Bob Wahlstrom, longtime resident
ofMontreal and recently of Calgary, born April 17, 1910, passed away peacefully
at his home onDecember 24, 1997 at the age of 87 years. He is survived
by his loving wife Mildred; a brotherCarl in Chicago; his two children,
Bob of Calgary and Virginia of Mountain View, California;five grandchildren,

WAKALUK - Mrs. Anna Wakaluk of Calgary passed away at the George Boyack
Nursing Home on July 19, 1997 at the age of 85 years, beloved mother of
Sonja (Walter) Wakula and Gerald Wakaluk, Calgary; dear Baba of Allan
(Kathleen) Scott, Calgary, Susan Scott, Calgary, Bobby (Oksana) Scott,
Moscow, Russia, and Chelsea Mae Vandergaag, Sicamous, B.C.; and dear great-Baba
of Anastassia Sonja Scott; a niece Anne Kapty, Edmonton. She was predeceased
by her husband Nicholas Wakaluk on January 1, 1982, and by two brothers,
Dmitro Molofy and Nicolai Molofy. She was born in Illinci, Ivano Frankivske,
Ukraine and came to Canada in 1927 to Lavoy, Alberta. She later moved
to Drumheller where she married Nicholas Wakalu in 1940 and they later
moved to Calgary in 1959. She loved to work in her garden and with her
flowers and both were always so beautiful. She was a loving and devoted
mother and Baba and will be missed very much by her loving family and

Originally from Mtwarra, Tanzania, she lived in Toronto, Gleichen, Red
Deer and was recently residing in Calgary. She will be lovingly remembered
by her husband Nurdin; her two sons, Naushad and Alkarim; her daughter
Salima; her two daughters-in-law, Ruhina and Vahida; her son-in-law Farouk;
her four grandchildren, Tamina, Narisa, Al-Shafeez and Sarina; her mother
Jenabai; her sister Dolly; and her two brothers, Nizar and Sadru. May

WALKER - Mrs. A. Ethel Walker of Calgary, passed away peacefully at her
residence on June 9, 1997 at the age of 85 years. Ethel will be lovingly
remembered by a sister Violet Wilson; a son Malcolm and his family, Denise,
Ian and Stuart Walker; a daughter Ann and her family, Larry, Christine
and Bill Carr. She is also remembered by Norman and Ruth Walker, Kathleen
Brittain, Revie and Doreen Walker; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by Ian, her loving husband of nearly fifty years.
Ethel will be remembered as a master teacher, serving the needs of young
people for more than forty years. Despite her failing health, Ethel always
took a vital interest in the lives of others. She will be remembered for
her delightful sense of humor and deep sense of compassion. Funeral Services

WALKER - Mr. Andrew (Andy) Walker, of Calgary, passed away at the Peter
Lougheed Hospital on September 6, 1997, at the age of 90 years. He is
the loving father of Jean Walker of Calgary. He is also survived by his
sisters-in-law, Anne Walker of Calgary, Viola Smith of High River; brothers-in-law,
Donald (Madeline) Smith and Allan (Chrissie) Smith, all of High River.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Andy was predeceased by
his wife Edna, and his brothers, George and Russell, sisters, Susan Cardiff
and Isabel Benner. Andrew worked for Union Milk-Silverwood Dairies for
fifty-one years until his retirement in 1972. Andrew was a member of Hillhurst
United Church for many years. He was also a longtime resident of the Hillhurst
District, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers,

WALKER - Olga Eleanor Walker (nee Holmberg) died peacefully in her sleep
at the Hillcrest Nursing Home on Thursday, November 27, 1997. Olga was
born on December 1, 1908 in Winnipeg, and was raised in the Scandinavian
community near Hay Lakes, Alberta. She graduated from Camrose Normal School
and taught for many years in rural Alberta, Vermilion and Edmonton before
retiring and subsequently moving to Calgary. She is survived by her son
Douglas, daughter-in-law Tracy, and grandchildren, Crista and David, all
of Calgary. Olga was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1980. Memorial
Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Crowfoot Chapel",
(82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Saturday, November 29, 1997 at 1:00 p.m.
with the Rev. John E. Griffith officiating. Interment to follow at the

WALL - Mrs. Edith Florence Wall (nee Thiessen), beloved wife of Mr. Henry
Wall of Calgary, went to be with her Lord at the Foothills Hospital on
Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at the age of 63 years, after a long struggle
with cancer. Edith was born on March 14, 1934 in Coaldale, Alberta. She
spent her early childhood in the Rosemary-Duchess area, after which the
family moved to Vauxhall, Alberta where Edith received her education.
After one year of University in Calgary, she began her teaching career
in Vauxhall in 1955. Edith taught in Bowness and Calgary from 1958 to
1962. Edith and Henry were married in August 1959. She interrupted her
teaching career to raise their family, and then earned her B.Ed in 1978.
Edith taught kindergarten from 1978 to 1981 and then joined the Heritage
Christian School staff in 1981, retiring in 1995. She was an active member
of the Dalhousie Community Church. Besides her loving husband, Edith is
survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynette and Calvin Warkentin
of Sherwood Park, and Karen and Tim Neufeld of Elk Island; four grandchildren,
Justin, Jillian, Teagan and Tyson. She is also survived by two sisters
and brothers-in-law, ElLee and Art Siemens of Black Diamond, and Evelyn
and John Wiens of Surrey, B.C.; her stepmother Emmy Thiessen of Plum Coulee,
MB; as well as relatives and many friends. She was predeceased by her
parents, Mary and Dietrich Thiessen, two brothers, Walter and Gerald,
as well as an infant sister Maryanne. Funeral Services will be held at

WALLACE - David Melville, born Leven, Scotland 1908, passed away at the
Rockyview Hospital, July 11, 1997. He worked for the C.P.R. Ogden Shops
for forty-seven years, served in the R.C.N. four and a half years. He
was predeceased by his first wife Edna, grandson Brian, and son Bill.
He leaves to mourn his wife Ina, son Dave (May), Langley, B.C., daughter-in-law
Grace; also five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. At his own
request, his remains to be donated to the University of Calgary. No Service

WALLACE - Elsie Marion Wallace of Bow Crest Nursing Home passed away
December 16,1997 at the age of 76 years. She was predeceased by her husband
Hugh in 1993, and by a sonDon in 1978. She is survived by a daughter and
son-in-law, Edie and Dick Olsen of Calgary; asister Phyllis (Lorne) Temple
of Brandon, Manitoba; and two brothers-in-law, Bill (Muriel)Wallace of
Calgary, and Herb (Elsie) Wallace of Powell River, B.C. Also surviving
are eightgrandchildren, Donna, Christina, Tami, Liza, Garth, Shelley,
Vicki and Nancy; as well as threegreat-grandchildren. Elsie was a longtime
member of Rosedale United Church and sang in thechoir there for forty-seven

WALLACE - Evelyn, passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on June 24, 1997

Evelyn was employed by Mobil Oil Canada for twenty years. Funeral Services

WALLACE - Mr. George Wallace of 1133 Hastings Street, Moose Jaw, passed
away Sunday,December 14, 1997 at the age of 91 years. Born July 31, 1906
in Melancthon Township, Ontario,he came West in 1923 and settled in Regina
where he met and married Evelyn Wilson. Thecouple were married in 1929
and celebrated sixty-six years together. He was predeceased by hiswife
Evelyn in September 1995. George was a member of the Moose Jaw Lions Club,
the ElksLodge and was an Honorary Life Member of the Sergeants Mess at
CFB Moose Jaw. He issurvived by his three daughters, Grace Knoll, Sarnia,
Marianne (Bev) Friis, London, Ontario, andDarla Wallace, Calgary; three
grandchildren, Kim Edwards, Calgary, Kerry Friis, London,Ontario, and
Dean Rudichuk, Calgary; as well as four great-grandchildren. Funeral Services

WALLACE - Joshua (Josh) Miles Wallace of Calgary, passed away following
a lengthy illness at the Foothills Hospital on Monday, November 3, 1997
at the age of 35 years. Josh will be lovingly remembered by his parents,
Linda and Bill Wallace; sister Allison (Frank) Thordsen (nee Wallace);

WALTERS - Donald (Don) Fredrick Walters, passed away suddenly on November
4, 1997, at the age of 38 years, leaving Cindy and their three children,

and spent many enjoyable hours on the computer, but his true passion was

WALTERS - Sidney James Walters passed away peacefully at the Glenmore
Park Auxiliary Hospital on September 10, 1997 at the age of 91 years.
Dad will be sadly missed by his children, Ron (Norma) of Calgary, Norma
(Al) of Qualicum Beach, B.C., Fred (Ruth) of Bend, Oregon, and Sherry
(Conrad) of Calgary. Sid is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, and
fourteen great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his loving wife Irene
in 1993, and his brother Eric in 1987. Sid was born in Plymouth, England
on September 25, 1905. He and his family emigrated to Canada and settled
in the Parkhill district of Calgary where he spent all of his life. Sid
worked for C.P.R. for fifty-one years and was very proud of his "Golden
Pass". In his younger years, he was quite a sportsman, playing hockey
and soccer, even managing to play a soccer game between the ceremony and
reception of his wedding. Sid was his own man with his own views and opinions.

Eric was born in Edmonton onMarch 5, 1915. In Eric's early days, he played
semi pro hockey in Edmonton. He then joinedBurns Foods, which was the
start of a lifelong career in Alberta's beef industry, only to beinterrupted
by his service as a pilot with the R.C.A.F. during World War II. Eric
was anavid sportsman and had a love of the outdoors. He was a member of
the CalgaryHorticultural Society and well known for his wonderful garden.
Eric belonged to theMasonic Lodge for over fifty years, and was actively

WATKINS - June Daphne Lansdell Watkins, beloved wife of Howard C. Watkins
of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on November
16, 1997, at the age of 75 years. June was born in Ogema, Saskatchewan
but spent most of her childhood in Gray, Saskatchewan, a farming community
just south of Regina. June commenced working as a civilian with the Royal
Canadian Air Force in Regina, and in 1941, she was asked to move to Calgary
which became her permanent home. June met her husband Howard in Banff
in 1944, and they were married in Calgary on July 7, 1945. For the past
fifty-two years, June and Howard were an inseparable team whose favourite
hobby was ballroom dancing. She was an active member of the Calgary YWCA
where she served on the Board of Directors, becoming President in 1974.
In 1986, she was the first recipient of the Winnifred Reeve Award for
outstanding contribution to the goals and objectives of the YWCA. June
also served for many years as a member of the Vestry and Treasurer of
St. Mark's Anglican Church. June was the heart of the household, and is
survived by her loving husband Howard; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald
and Sharon of Calgary, Gordon of Banff and Stuart and Dolores who live
in Canmore with grandson Steven; sisters and brothers-in-law, Eileen and
Vince Kadis and Doreen and Walton Youngs, all of Edmonton; and nieces,
Julia and her husband Bob Seager of Calgary and Laurie and her husband
Bill Douglas of Edmonton. June's life was defined by service to her family,
to her church and to her community. Her spirit lives on in her three sons

Gordon and Audrey of Sydney, B.C., and David and Linda of Indianapolis,
Indiana, Delores Waugh of Sherwood Park; two granddaughters, Joan (Frank)
Nobert of Sherwood Park, Tracy (Vincent) Carson of Rocky Mountain House;
a great-granddaughter Jessica Marie Nobert. He is also survived by three
brothers, Gordon of Calgary, Douglas of Penticton, B.C. and George of
Granby, Quebec; and a sister Margaret Hayes of Vancouver; as well as numerous
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son John on November 22,
1995. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Chapel
of the Bells", (2720 Centre Street North), on Monday, November 3,
1997 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Linda Benson of Northminster United Church
officiating. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly
to a charity of the donor's choice. In living memory of Murray Waugh,
a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS &

WAY - Dolores Virginia passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 4, 1997
at her home in Calgary at the age of 69 years. It is with great sadness
that her family is announcing her passing. Dolores was predeceased by
her husband Ralph, her parents, Lela and Coleman Morgan, and her brother
Russell and infant brother David Morgan. Dolores is survived by her five
children, Laura (Doug) McLauchlin, Linda (Terry) Hebhardt, Jim (Deb) Way,
Rod (Rachel) Way and Cheryl (Chris) Ptak. She is also survived by her
eight grandchildren, Kasey (Callen), Kari (Dirk), Kim, Kellie, Erin (Shola),
Bob, Morgan, Connie; and her two great-grandsons, Jordan and Luke. Dolores
had many relatives and friends in Calgary and Strathmore and a favorite
aunt Vivian McConnell of Portland, Oregon whom will greatly miss her.
Dolores enjoyed playing shuffleboard at the Kensington Legion, which she
was a member of for twenty-four years, she made many dear friends there.
Mom we love you and we will miss you. In lieu of flowers, donations would
be appreciated and may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
For those wishing a Visitation will be held at MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME
on Friday, November 7, 1997 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will
be held at Mountain View Funeral Home on Saturday, November 8, 1997 at
1:00 p.m. with Interment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
