ZABIELLO - Veronika passed away peacefully
at the Foothills Hospital on October 17, 1997, at the age of 76 years. She
is survived by her brother Walter (Mary) Lapaj and their daughter Anna Teresa
of Calgary. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Our Lady Queen
of Peace (Polish) Catholic Church, 2111 Uxbridge Drive N.W. on Tuesday,
October 21, 1997 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady
Queen of Peace (Polish) Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 22, 1997 at
10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Eugeniusz Bolda, SCh, Celebrant. Interment to follow

ZACHARIASSEN - Hans T. Zachariassen, passed away quietly at the Hanna
Hospital on June 28, 1997 at the age of 79. After spending time in the
Hanna and Rockyview Hospitals, Hans chose to return home to Hanna to be
among family and friends. "Poppa" was the loving father of two
daughters, Susan and Amber of Calgary, and a model father because of his
hard work, strong principles and responsibilities. Hans will be remembered
and missed by his sister Ruth Colbert of Hanna; brother and sister-in-law,
Ray and Phyllis Zachariassen of Rosebud; and brother-in-law Harry Price
of Red Deer. Hans was a favourite uncle and story teller to Sandra (Mike)
Lawrence, Rod Colbert, Neill Colbert; and the Zachariassen family of Donna,
Roy (Laurie), Richard (Helen), Judy and Linda. He was predeceased by his
parents, sister Christine, and brother-in-law Mac. Hans was born on March
2, 1918 at home in Scotfield, Alberta, a second child to Norwegian immigrants
Eric and Ingeborg Zachariassen. He was raised in the Stanmore/Youngstown
area. Before joining the army in 1942, Hans worked as a carpenter with
his father. During his military service in England, Belgium and France,
Hans served with the tank and reconnaissance divisions. He returned home
in 1945 to run the family farm. After retiring from farming and ranching
in 1980, Hans spent his time with friends golfing, fishing, curling, travelling,
over coffee, seniors slow pitch and winters in warmer climates. He also
visited Norway and hosted many Norwegian relatives over the years. Hans
expressed to his family, his appreciation for the care and support he
received from the staff at the Hanna Hospital. Funeral Services will be
held on Friday, July 4 at 2:00 p.m. at All Saints Anglican Church, 107
- 6 Avenue West in Hanna. Interment will follow at Hanna Cemetery. A Luncheon
will follow at the Legion Hall in Hanna. In lieu of flowers, if friends
so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Hanna Hospital or Stars
Air Ambulance (7/2/97).
ZBOYA - Douglas Craig Zboya, lifelong companion of Lori van Weenen of
Calgary, passed away tragically in Clearwater, British Columbia on October
3, 1997 at the age of 33 years. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes
may be made directly to a trust fund set up for Colby and Sydnee at any
Royal Bank in care of their mother, Lori van Weenen. Funeral Services
will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S "Park Memorial Chapel",

ZEH - Mary (nee Gorr), passed away at the Rockyview Hospital on June
26, 1997 at the age of 80 years. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her
daughter Sharon Koopman and her husband Donald; and her grandchildren,
Kent and Crystal, all of Calgary; her sister Pauline Brielsman of Hanna;
her brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Alice Gorr of Acme; her brothers-in-law
and sisters-in-law, Hughie and Eileen Zaye of Creston, B.C., and Elsie
Darr, Gordon Corson, and Bill Vinall, all of Calgary. Mary is also survived
by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Walter,
her parents, Adam and Elizabeth Gorr, her sisters, Annie, Emma and Catherine,
and her brothers, Henry and Alex. Mary was a long-time resident of Brooks
and she will by sadly missed by all who knew her. Funeral Services will
be held at FOSTER'S FUNERAL HOMES, Garden Chapel, 3220 - 4 Street N.W.,
on Wednesday, July 2, 1997 at 3:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Queen's
Park Cemetery, Calgary. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Mary's
name may be made to the charity or organization of the donor's choice.

ZEIGLER - Mary Eliza, beloved wife of the late Clare Zeigler, passed
away at RockyviewHospital in Calgary on December 13, 1997 at the age of
84 years. She is survived by two nieces,Mrs. Maxine (Bud) Richardt of
Saskatoon, Sask., Mrs. Ina-Mae (Wally) Collins of Kenaston,Sask.; and
a nephew Doug Boomhower of Saskatoon, Sask.; as well as by her many friends.Funeral

ZELEM - Helen Zelem of Calgary, passed away at the George Boyack Nursing
Home on Tuesday, June 3, 1997 at the age of 93 years. She is survived
by two sons, John (Ann) of Calgary and Bill (Christine) of Blackfalds,
AB; three grandchildren, Steve Zelem, Lisa (Paul) Robinson and Andrea
Zelem; one great-grandchild Michelena; and numerous cousins in the Ukraine.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Stefan in 1955 and her grandson Aaron
in 1988. Funeral Services will be held at LEYDEN'S "Chapel of Remembrance"
(17 Avenue and 2 Street S.W.), on Monday, June 9, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. Interment

ZENTNER - Mrs. Clara Florence Zentner, beloved wife of the late Mr. Ralph
Zentner ofCalgary, AB, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Saturday,
November 29, 1997 at the ageof 90 years. Clara is the loving mother of
Edward (Ed) and Emilie Zentner, Ronald and JoyceZentner, Audrey and Bob
Swires, and Pat Beiswanger, all of Calgary; twelve grandchildren,twenty-four
great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived
by fourbrothers and two sisters. Clara was predeceased by her husband
Ralph in 1974, sons, Denis in1968, Laurie in 1983 and daughter-in-law
Veronica in 1988. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Clarawas raised in Saskatchewan
until 1962. Clara then moved to Calgary with her husband Ralphand resided
in Calgary until her passing. Clara will be fondly remembered by her family

ZIEGLER - Elizabeth, passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre
in Calgary on June 9, 1997 at the age of 91 years. Elizabeth leaves to
mourn, her son Earland (Shirley) Ziegler; her daughter Maxine Ryan; eight
grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; her half-brother Wesley Bettcher;
and many nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was predeceased by husband George
in October of 1985, and her siblings, Ernest, William, Ruth, and Anita.
The family also mourns the tragic loss of Maxine's husband David Ryan
at this time. Elizabeth was a self-taught sewer and helped with the raising
of her brothers and sisters. She was always willing to help with any sewing
or craft project. The family wishes to extend its sincere thanks to the
staff of the Bethany Care Centre for looking after Mama. Funeral Services
