The Why, What, Where and How to Blogging presented by Lianne Kruger.
Description – We will discuss what to do before beginning to blog such as determining why you would want to blog and the benefits. Knowing the why will help you determine the “what to blog.” How to blog will then be illustrated using Google Blogger, which is free. Steps will be shown on how to create a blog, write and format posts, upload pictures, how to find information on a blog by adding tags and a search bar, and how to share the blog.
Blogging is not only good for sharing but also a great location for a backup of your documents and records.
Lianne Kruger started doing genealogy as a child recording names and dates at graveyards. In her teens she went through microfilms looking for names written on a piece of paper. When first married she researched her paternal line back to the first European land owner of Canada. She continues to research her other lines along with One-Place Studies.
Lianne has volunteered with the Alberta Genealogical Society (AGS) as Red Deer Branch’s president, and six years as 1st Vice President of AGS. She is currently Vice President of the Red Deer Branch; and database, website and social media chairs for AGS. She was rewarded two special achievement awards (2015, 2018) and the President award (2020) for her service. She is also a board member and communications director of mitoYDNA and on the advisory board of Ancestry.ca.
Lianne earned a computer programming degree and has been teaching computer software courses since 1982. She loves combining her love of technology, love of teaching and her love of genealogy by teaching ways technology can help genealogists in research, preserving and sharing the research with others.
