Manitoba Conference in June 2020

Manitoba Conference in June 2020

The Manitoba Genealogical Society is very pleased to announce that they will be hosting a genealogical conference to celebrate Manitoba’s 150th birthday.
The conference will be held on June 12-14, 2020 at the Canad Inns Destination Centre Club Regent, Winnipeg, MB with the theme ‘Celebrating 150 Years of Manitoba‘.

In conjunction with the celebration we are undertaking a Manitoba First Families project which will offer a certificate of recognition to descendants of original and/or early pioneers in what makes up present day Manitoba. Many of these pioneers have gone unnoticed in history, this project gives us an opportunity to honour them and to preserve more of the history of the people who settled in our province. We will be announcing project details shortly.

The Manitoba Genealogical Society Inc. (MGS) is a provincial genealogical organization that endeavours to promote genealogical research and the writing of family histories. It is a registered charity formed in 1976 and incorporated in 1982.

CALL FOR PAPERS
The Manitoba Genealogical Society would like to invite speakers to submit lecture proposals for our first provincial conference being held in Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 12-14, 2020 to celebrate Manitoba’s 150th birthday. Genealogy trip to Edmonton – are you interested?

Hey, everyone! We’re exploring an exciting idea that recently came forward. To gauge the potential participation, we’re posing two questions for you. Please let us know:

  1. Would you be interested in participating in a field trip this year to the Alberta Provincial Archives?
  2. Would you be open to sharing a chartered bus ride for an overnight stay in Edmonton?

Please email your interest to us, whether positive or negative, to the Events Coordinator at: events@afhs.ab.ca.

If the interest level is sufficient, we’ll take it to the next stage and investigate further. Thanks!
