BIFHSGO Conference – October 26 & 27

We have been asked to share the following information about the upcoming conference offered by the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa:

Teaghlach Gaelacha Celebration of Irish Family History

It is our pleasure to announce that BIFHSGO’s 30th anniversary year’s annual conference theme is Teaghlach Gaelach: a Celebration of Irish Family History.  This Irish Gaelic phrase means “Irish Family,” and “family” is at the heart of what we do as genealogists. The “celebration” will echo BIFHSGO’s 30th anniversary, and the exciting developments in Irish family history research.

The conference will be held on October 26 and 27, and will feature expert speakers from Ireland and the UK, including:
Natalie Bodle, Austin Bovenizer, Claire Bradley, John Grenham, Martin McDowell and William Roulston

Their talks will cover a wide range of useful topics, as always—everything from researching your farming ancestors to the Irish Palatines to DNA analysis tips.

Once again, we will be holding two popular Connect Sessions: a Conference Connect, where registrants will have an opportunity to connect with one another and discuss the sessions, and an Expert Connect, when experts representing various areas of Irish research will offer assistance to help in your genealogy efforts. And of course, there will be a virtual Expo Hall, giving you the chance to make contact with organizations whose products or ideas may well help your research.

You will be able to watch the event live or view the recorded talks until November 30, all for the member price of $35, or $50 for non-members. Registration opens September 1st.

You can find more details HERE on the BIFHSGO conference page and keep up with the latest conference news through the summer via our Facebook and X posts. Book those conference dates in your calendar and get ready for an entertaining and educational two days!
