The AFHS Society Meeting is our regular meeting for all members, usually held on the second Monday of each month from September to June. Guests are welcome to attend!
Topic: Tell Your Family Stories: Why and How to Tell Them presented by Tara Shymanski
Description: Genealogists know that unearthing family stories creates a bond between you and your ancestors. Studies also show that hearing family stories provides psychological benefits for our relatives. This session explores the many benefits of sharing our stories and those of ancestors to the younger generation. We’ll also explore interesting tactics to engagingly tell the stories to family members who don’t necessarily want to hear them.
Presenter: Tara Shymanski is an enthusiastic speaker who has presented in Canada, the United States, and England. She has deep Canadian roots with Hessian and Loyalist ancestors who arrived in the late 1700s. Tara has a BA in History and a Canadian Records certificate from the International Institute of Genealogical Studies.
This meeting will be a Zoom meeting. Please register for the meeting using this link .
The meeting will be recorded and will be available on our members-only “Meeting Handouts and Videos” page.
We welcome guests!
