Description: “Good genealogy does not begin with a giant leap into the distant past. It begins with the strongest known fact.”

Have you ever wondered about your family’s origins but didn’t know where to start? Join us for an exclusive webinar with Linda Yip (葉秀映), an Accredited Genealogist® professional specializing in the Western Canadian provinces.

Born in Vancouver, Linda’s own family history is woven into the fabric of Canada; her historic family home—the Wing Sang Company—is now the site of the Chinese Canadian Museum. Linda specializes in uncovering “hidden” family stories that have been obscured by migration, language barriers, or missing records.

In this session, you will learn:

  • The Golden Rule: Why you must “Start with Yourself” to build a reliable bridge to the past.
  • Home Archiving: How to find crucial evidence in your own home, from old passports to forgotten letters.
  • Effective Interviewing: How to ask the right questions to unlock the memories of your elders.
  • Professional Tools: A walkthrough of the Pedigree Chart and Family Group Sheet.

Whether you are tracing roots in Canada or overseas, Linda’s practical, step-by-step methodology will provide you with the tools to begin your own journey of discovery.

  • Date: Tuesday, May 5, 2026
  • Time: 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM (PDT)
  • Platform: Virtual via Zoom
