Finding Records on FamilySearch – A Workshop

Have you ever tried browsing through records on the FamilySearch website? How do you know what’s available and how to find this information? Searching the indexed records is the easiest way to look for ancestors, but there are thousands of digitized records that haven’t been indexed. Taking the time to browse or scroll through them is worth the effort.

At this workshop presented by AFHS members Tara Shymanski and Marian Jones, you’ll learn where to find records and tips on making browsing a bit easier. We will look at both indexed and non-indexed records to make use the best use of the FamilySearch website. You won’t be searching your family, but will learn and practise the different methods of searching on FamilySearch.

If possible, bring a laptop, tablet or iPad.  We have a limited number of computers available at the library, so please note when registering if you will need an AFHS computer.

NOTE: This workshop was originally planned for March. We currently have four more spots available. Please contact communications@afhs.ab.ca by May 23 to be added to the list.

It will be held in-person only at the AFHS Library.

The workshop will be free for AFHS members and $25 for non-members.
