The AFHS Society Meeting is our regular meeting for all members, usually held on the second Monday of each month from September to June. Guests are welcome to attend!

Topic: Explore Our Three AFHS Websites presented by Jim Benedict and Roy Aggarwal.

Over the past six years, our society’s websites have been evolving. They are now a fantastic resource for events, resources, meetings, library, family studies and activities.  We will explore our three websites:

AFHS.ab.ca: Our main website.  Features of calendar and events, our library, society and SIG meetings, publications and general news.

ALBERTAANCESTORS.ca: Our cemetery project.  Access to 230 thousand names across 244 cemeteries throughout southern Alberta.  An easy search on names and dates.  Headstone images.  Stories of Alberta famous and infamous.

FAMILYGENES.ca: Member’s family trees and stories.  Where our members can archive and preserve their family studies.  We have 46 studies containing 76 trees, 164 thousand families and 446 thousand people.  Match up to your family tree with the surname cloud feature or track your origins with the migration mapping.

ROOTS to ROUTES page: We end up on a new resource: search across all of the cemeteries, family trees, birth-marriage-death notices and WW1 returning soldiers, all on one web page!

This will be a hybrid meeting held at Bow Cliff Seniors Centre (3375 Spruce Drive SW in Calgary) and via Zoom. We welcome guests. If you are attending in person, just come to the meeting! For the Zoom link, register here.
